A FORMER Southport KGV student was Commended in the United Kingdom Songwriting Competition.
Lyricist and songwriter JJ Parki, 31, now lives in Spain where he works as a language teacher.
He said: “I have written lyrics since I was 11 years old and entering the UK Songwriting Contest was extremely exciting as, finally, my lyrics were heard and judged by professionals in the music industry.
“I’m thrilled that all five of my submitted songs each achieved 4 out of 5 stars and Commended entry.
“I am, naturally, sad that none of my five submitted songs will continue onto the final. However, session three is already open and I will be submitting more songs, so all I can say is watch this space.
“I have collaborations from Australia still ongoing – a preview of Hard To Forget is available at https://www.soundcloud.com/jjparki/hard-to-forget and lyrics to continue writing… the competition isn’t won yet! It ends at the end of September!”
